Richard Birkemeier writes, “We propose an exhibit introducing a new Covenant Partnership between Habitat LA and Habitat OC and the Presbytery of Los Ranchos. Individual churches have supported HH for years, but this will be the first Presbytery-wide effort. This new (began in Oct. 2015) initiative promises to increase the effectiveness of our response to this important local mission in the churches of the Presbytery. We will provide an exhibit, co-produced by HH and the churches in the coalition that will detail ways in which our churches can support major new Habitat builds in Long Beach, Fullerton, Anaheim and other cities in our area.”
Richard continues: “Habitat for Humanity’s mission is the creation of decent, affordable housing for low-income families and affordable housing is without a doubt, one of the most pressing problems we face in our communities today. Last Oct. 7th, the fledgling Ranchos Presbytery Habitat coalition held it’s first meeting at Garden Grove 1st Presby. Bruce Boyer, Pastor Cheryl Raine, and I met with a group of mission representatives from seven churches in the Presbytery (Grace 1st, Bellflower, Tustin, Orange, Yorba Linda, Garden Grove 1st, and Placentia) to hear a presentation by Habitat’s Faith Based coordinators Chris Untiet and Ariel Yarrish. They described a program called Covenant Partners that brings churches together to work more effectively in support of Habitat’s mission. Discussion ensued and a consensus developed that each of us would return to our respective churches to propose a Presbytery-based mission project in support of Habitat for Humanity in our local communities. This exhibit will be the first public display for this exciting new group.”
Welcome, Presbytery of Los Ranchos Mission Coalition with Habitat for Humanity! We look forward to learning more. You will be one of many ministry Exhibits at Mission Connections: Listening to all voices, 6 February, 2016, Tustin Presbyterian Church.
The goal of the Summit is to provide a place for people, interested in world mission and local community engagement in our Presbytery churches, though all are welcome. We gather and connect with each other, to learn about our ministries, and to share ideas. How can I find out what other churches are doing? How can I share what I am doing? What are the opportunities for serving together in mission? These are questions we hear all the time. Well, come join us, interact, and engage at Mission Connections on February 6th at Tustin Pres. Church!
Mission Connections is free and all are invited. Please follow this link to Evite to complete your registration online: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/mission-connections-listening-to-all-voices-summit-2016-registration-20441478011. To register by phone, please call Bonita Carr (714-956-3691 X122).
