Mark Carey is a member of Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church in Los Alamitos where he serves on the mission committee. In 2008 he went with Beacon of Hope International on a short term mission trip, and has gone every year since, taking an HIV/AIDS awareness program to South Africa, combined with sharing the gospel through the Jesus film in the public school system. Please join us this year, and be sure to see our short term mission opportunity for 2014 at the STMT table in Exhibits.

Anita Coleman worships at Irvine Presbyterian Church, is a friend of Pravaham (mission to young women in India) and serves on the presbytery’s Strategic Coordinating Team. She likes to connect people together on shared passions and interests. “I enjoy seeing God’s healing power and the fruit of the Spirit in people’s lives. And, I love learning and practicing what I learn! The Summit Planning Team, for me, is not just about serving on a committee but an opportunity to do life with other people who love and follow Jesus, people whom God has gifted into my own life, by placing me here at this moment in time in this specific place. It is such an exciting privilege to be engaged together, building Jesus’ Kingdom on earth.

LJ Laurie Jaworski is the Director of Mission at Trinity United Presbyterian Church. She has been in Mission leadership for over twenty years. LJ began serving with Youth with a Mission (YWAM) leading teams overseas and teaching students. Later, she attended Fuller Seminary School of World Mission graduating with a M.A. in Intercultural Studies. Since then she has served in four churches. She lectures for Perspectives of the World Christian Movement. For many years LJ was a cabinet member of Association of Presbyterian Mission Pastors (APMP) most recently as Vice-President. Her passion is Church mobilization – helping believers embrace the call to be World Christians.

Jill Nagasugi is a member of Trabuco Presbyterian Church and serves as Mission Chair. One of her goals is for Trabuco to offer local and global mission opportunities that everyone can participate in, regardless of any financial, physical or time constraints they may have. She recently completed her service as Consultant for Mission Partnerships with the presbytery where she says she had the great privilege of meeting mission volunteers and learning about their mission passions and concerns. This is her third (and final) year on the summit planning committee where involvement started as part of her consulting position but also from her desire for our mission leaders and volunteers to connect and learn together.

Beverly Powell graduated from Bethel Christian College with a Bachelor of Theology in Biblical Studies and she continues to work toward a Master’s in Theology. She currently serves on staff at New Hope Presbyterian Church as Director of Congregational Care in Orange. In addition, she is serving her first year on the summit planning committee. She desires to see the people of God making life changing decisions as she encourages them to grow into an in-depth relationship with Christ which promotes and develops a deeper faith, stronger families, stronger churches, stronger communities and ultimately a stronger nation. In doing so, each entity evolves around understanding the need for missions as we take steps together in living out the great commission and by sharing and caring for all people
